A council is launching a new set of free training courses to help landlords and letting agents strengthen their understanding of key legal duties and ensure safe, high‑quality homes for tenants.
The courses funded by Wiltshire council are designed to give landlords the clarity and confidence to stay compliant as the new Renters Rights Act. It also offers advice on how to tackle damp and mould in properties to keep tenants safe.

Attendees will learn about new compliance requirements, enhanced rights and protections for tenants, updated landlord obligations, and the significant changes to possession procedures following the abolition of Section 21.

The Damp and Mould responsibilities for landlords course provides practical guidance on preventing, identifying and resolving damp and mould issues.
Participants will explore the causes of damp and mould, essential maintenance to prevent problems, and effective treatment methods.
The course also covers recommended landlord processes, moisture‑reducing device options, and clear, accessible advice that can be shared with tenants.

A further in-person event is planned on 28 May 9:30am-4:30pm in Chippenham Town Hall. This training event for Landlord Basics will cover Tenancy Agreements, deposits, Section 8s, HMOs, gas and electrical safety, inventories and much more – Eventbrite
